Austin Chapter President Von Roeder commented on the ceremony.

"Last night, Lyn and I had the privilege to present, on behalf of the DCV, the R.E. Lee leadership award to a graduating senior Naval ROTC cadet at Seguin High School.  I gave out the last ribbon I had along with a certificate. (with a logo).  We watched, with admiration as the battalion passed in review.  It is such an honor to see these future leaders and military officers show their pride in the United States of America and its armed services."
